48
Days to the Work You Love
By Dan Miller
48 Days to the Work You Love is not about
finding a new job. It is about finding out what you are
going to “be.” According to Dan Miller, failing to make
that fundamental discovery is why so many people find
themselves in jobs they hate. But the great news is this
book will lead you to the vocation you will love.
Dan Miller will help you see clear patterns form from
which you can make successful career and job decisions by
understanding your God-given skills and abilities,
personality traits, values, dreams, and passions. These
patterns create a compass for you. Finding the work you love
is finding the fulfillment of your calling.

This is an excellent book about finding work that you
love. The author stresses the importance of "calling"
or vocation more than employment. It sure puts things
in a different perspective.
I have two young adult sons that I want to read this
book. I think it is a "must read" before they choose
their life's work. I think the book will give them new
light on the subject.
At the end of each chapter are a list of activities for you
to work through to help you with the process of discerning
your interests, skills, and life patterns that will help you
find work that you enjoy doing.
This is a good book for men, women, and young adults as
well as older teens. I highly recommend it.

Life is best when
it's lived purposefully and passionately. When you try to be
all things to all people, you run the risk of being nothing
to anyone and missing out on God's special plan for your
life. Each chapter in How to Say No... will bring you
a little closer to learning how to say "no" without guilt or
anxiety by focusing on key self-discovery and questions and
providing easy-to-follow action steps.
How to Say No ... and Live to Tell About It: A Woman's
Guide to Guilt-Free Decisions tackles the
challenges of overwhelmed and overworked women, teaching
them strategies for saying no in order to protect limited
resources of time, talent, and finances. A former “yes-aholic,”
Byers discusses how to say no graciously and without
feelings of guilt as she offers tips women can use to
evaluate commitments, priorities, and energy levels so they
can realistically decide what to take on.

By now I'm sure you've
figured out that don't usually review a book in Family
Tymes unless I like it. This book is no exception. Written
in a crisp, clean style, Mary's writing keeps you focused on
this very interesting topic of saying "No" so you can give
yourself to your "Yes". I highly recommend this book for
anyone who struggles at all with over-commitment or guilt
feelings when they do say no to any opportunity. I heard
Mary at a conference a few years back on this topic before
she wrote this book. She shared many motivational ideas in
that seminar and she's added to those ideas in this book
from shared experiences of other moms just like you & I.
